A parabolic trough has to be lined with 1.5 meter wide silvered mylar. I
calculated the arclength of a parabola and set it equal to 1.5 meters. I
can select a focus and find the width of the trough. A pipe runs the span
of the focus as the sun heats it up. Oil is pumped through the pipe and
heats up a radiator indoors. I think I can build this contraption. It's
for my buddy who's interested in solar power for his home.
