Hello Jeff,

There are federally-funded Benefits Planning, Assistance, and Outreach
(BPAO) Projects in every state specializing in assisting individuals to
integrate their benefits programs (SSDI, SSI, Medicare, Medicaid, Food
Stamps, Housing & Utility Programs, ADC, VA, etc.) with current or future
employment. This service is FREE and independent of SSA.

I work for such a project covering central and southern Ohio.

You can find your local BPAO agency here:

http://ssa.gov/work/ServiceProviders/BPAODirectory.html

Concerning your questions on Continuing Disability Review (CDR):

Since 1993, on an annual basis, SSA on-line data for current
beneficiaries (SSDI) and recipients (SSI) is run through a computerized
statistical analysis and assigned a score (this process is known as
"profiling"). Once the profiling process is complete beneficiaries and
recipients with a "diary" (review) date during the current fiscal year
are essentially divided into two groups: those with a high profile score
will be scheduled for a full medical CDR while beneficiaries/recipients
with lower scores (lower probability of recovery) are sent a CDR Mailer
(AKA "Disability Update Report").

A MAJORITY of individuals receive the CDR mailer since processing full
medical CDRs for all beneficiaries/recipients is extremely time-consuming
and prohibitively expensive.

In the VAST majority of cases, depending upon the answers provided, the
SSA can avoid doing the much longer full medical review. Such cases are
"deferred" and assigned a new review date (3-5-7 years out).

If you have mailed in the Disability Update Report you've taken care of
your responsibility. Processing time (depending on current workload and
backup at local offices) can be quite lengthy as there are literally
millions upon millions of these reports filed annually.

Remember that SSA has a much bigger burden of proof to deny benefits now
than when you were in the initial application process. In no case would
you be summarily terminated and you have full appeal rights.

If need be, your local Protection & Advocacy agency may be of assistance.
They can be found here (this is also a FREE federally-funded *independent
and confidential* service):

http://www.passonline.org/resources

or

http://www.ssa.gov/work/ServiceProviders/PADirectory.html

I hope this information has been of help to you. Please feel free to
contact me with any questions you may have.

Most States, if not all, are backlogged. Your delay is atypical, but
not unheard of.

About 2.5% of CDR Mailers result in CDRs; the rest result in
deferrals.

Should I contact Social Security via 800 number.
Or lay low.
Regulation 404.1588 answers that question:

§404.1588 Your responsibility to tell us of events that may change
your disability status.
If you are entitled to cash benefits or to a period of disability
because you are disabled, you should promptly tell us if—

(a) Your condition improves;

(b) You return to work;

(c) You increase the amount of your work; or

(d) Your earnings increase.

I mean to see what my status of the 455 form was, since it has been five
months and I have recieved no responce since I mailed it.

I call the 800 number and was told no mail has been sent to me and that I
would not be notified if deferral action is made to defer doing a full CDR.

Hello Jeff,

Brojack may be in a better position to speak administratively as to why you
haven't been (and may not be)specifically notified.

All I can say is that in my experience it is not at all unusual for a case
to be deferred with no notice to the beneficiary/recipient. If it has been
five months without any response from SSA this is a very likely scenario.

My understanding is that less than three percent (3%) of individuals going
through the process end up having a full medical review. This makes sense
since processing full medical CDRs for a significant number of
beneficiaries/recipients would be extremely time-consuming and
prohibitively expensive.

If indeed your case has been deferred you would not normally have your
claim re-evaluated for at least three years (possibly longer).

I hope this information has been of help to you. Please feel free to
contact me with any questions you may have.

Yes, one will automatically be sent if they don't receive it within
120 days from the date on the first form. Calling them will generally
not accelerate this process.

I know this an old post. I just got my First SSA 455 Short Form from the center in PA. Question for you: did you write anything on the remark section?
Since it is a computer who reads the forms, I wonder if I made a mistake in filling out the remarks??? Did you write on the remarks section? Thank you. Hope you are feeling better... Teresa
Hi I was wondering if I should write in the remarks section of the disability short computerized form or not? Does anyone know?

If no changes, do nothing--which is exactly what they said to do.
He didn't say that there were no changes. Your mental retardation and lack
of comprehension of the English language is showing once again, Geraldine.

If there were appropriate changes that needed to be reported (as
specified in the notice), then no need to ask questions of the group.

Iit is a woman posting (Theresa), not a man (unless your name is
Theresa--LOL !!).

You really *are* a parasite on society, as I labelled you years ago.

And trying to pretend you are me by using a fake e-mail address
similar to my real e-mail address is further proof of your fear of
being outed as a spammer and troll.

The reason why questions are posted to this cesspool is the same reason why
losers are on ssdi to begin with.

The laugh's on you, dumbass, because Theresa didn't post the question to
which you replied. The question to which you replied was posted by someone
using the eamil address ***@gmail.com with no name

You can call a brick a dog, but doing so just exposes you as the foolish

Parasite you are--and Parasite you remain. You have your lips locked
around the federal, state, AND local govt teats--and you are sucking
HARD. I earned the money I received. Unless, of course, you consider
insurance claims as unearned income (which SSDI is--an insurance
claim). You know, like Medicare Parts A, B, and D (and others), auto
claims, homeowner insurance claims, medical claims of all types
(including dentist), any warranty claims from a mfr, etc. Because if
you DID buy those insurance policies, then you expected a reasonable
expectation you might use them--and you probably did at some point.
Thus, you ARE (by YOUR definition) a parasite. And if you did NOT buy
those insurance policies, then you would owe the US federal govt a lot
of money because you would not have paid the required FICA taxes
(which are the premiums for that insurance). Caught you like a
roach--and disposed of you equally elegantly.

SSDI and Medicare are not in any way like auto insurance, homeowner
insurance, medical insurance, etc., which are voluntary. SSDI and Medicare
are handouts whch parasites like you like to label as insurance claims
because you don't want to admit that you depend on the government to take
care of you because you were too lazy and irresponsible to do what was
necessary to be able to take care of yourself.

FICA taxes are not insurance premiums, which is precisely why they are
called taxes. Unlike actual insurance premiums, FICA taxes aren't
voluntary either. Dumbass parasite.

I just received a Disability Update Report in the mail, but I am having too much trouble trying to answer some of the questions. Reason for lack of intelligence: Receptive Processing Disorder that goes ignored and I'm fed up with it. Doctors won't talk to me about it, so-called "friends" don't want to hear about it and sadly, my own flesh n blood don't care. I have always tried everything alone and that's how I end up after 16 hours daily/nightly then finally asking for help. "I don't know how to help you." You can help. Just not me! Since I don't understand what I'm (supposed to be) doing, why waste time explaining? I'm still not going to get it. So, the form won't be sent in and I'll lose what little benefits I'm getting; SSI, doctor appointments, meds, Access..... I'm actually screwed because I'm too dumb to understand and no one will help. Too bad, huh?!
