That's what happens here in Edmonton: light turns green, FIRST car moves
out, interminable time passes, SECOND car moves out. Hell,

in Vancouver, light turns green, whole line of cars moves forward, like
a train. No farting around.

Well, around here, if impatient folks wouldn't stop right on the ass of
the person before them, they wouldn't also have to wait the few seconds
it takes for the lead car to make a safe enough gap for them to put
their foot on the gas.
Of course, the car behind him is right up close so he has to the
additional time it takes for the second car to start moving...
Figure 2-3 seconds per car its not wonder that the tenth car back hasn't
begun to move when the light turns yellow.

I was taught to stop far enough back that I can still see where the back
tires of the car before me meet the road. But mainly I just accept that
traffic takes time and being in a hurry just ruins the journey.

And I journey a lot more than I destination...

Today I had a 2.5 hr drive (Manistee-Big Rapids-Traverse City) to spend
15 minutes troubleshooting. The return to install the fix will be,
Harbor Springs-Big Rapids-Traverse City... And will take about an hour.

Like I said, More Journey than Destination...
